The SA4140i-SPL is a high-SPL microphone designed by Studio Six Digital and originally built and branded under the AudioControl label. We have acquired the inventory for this product, and it is now available on our online store.
The SA4140i-SPL is based on the iTestMic2 design, and as such has features such as:
- Compatibility with all Apple Lightning-connector products, including most iPhones and many iPads
- Audio output jack on the bottom of the mic to send out test signals
- A power jack on the mic that allows charging the attached iOS device when the PSU is plugged in
- Automatic calibration, plugging the microphone into the iOS device transfers its calibration
The main difference with this microphone is that it can accurately read SPL levels up 140 dB SPL. Using a custom-designed microphone capsule and analog preamp, this mic can be used in any situation where very high SPL levels need to measured. Even with this extended SPL range, the microphone is extremely flat and can be used for sound system analysis and equalization correction.
